Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HexaPro is a highly stabilized recombinant protein version of the SARS‑CoV‑2 spike glycoprotein engineered to maintain the prefusion trimeric conformation in order to enhance immunogenicity and stability for use in COVID‑19 vaccine platforms.[6] It incorporates multiple proline substitutions in the spike ectodomain to lock the protein in the prefusion state, improving expression, thermal stability, and suitability for diverse vaccine delivery technologies, including microneedle patch and inactivated vector-based vaccines.[6][7] HexaPro serves as the antigenic component in several next‑generation COVID‑19 vaccine candidates rather than a standalone licensed pharmaceutical, and is being developed primarily by academic and vaccine-technology collaborators for prophylactic immunization against SARS‑CoV‑2 infection.[6][7]
