Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The hexavalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV6) is an investigational vaccine candidate developed by Ningbo Rong'an Biological Pharmaceutical, a subsidiary of AIM Vaccine. It is designed to provide broad protection against invasive meningococcal disease by targeting six major serogroups of *Neisseria meningitidis*: A, C, W135, Y, X, and B. As a conjugate vaccine, it links the capsular polysaccharides of these serogroups to a carrier protein, which enhances the immune response by engaging T-cells, thereby inducing higher antibody titers and long-term immunological memory, particularly in infants and toddlers. This candidate is notable for being the first hexavalent meningococcal vaccine to enter clinical trials globally, currently in Phase 1/2 development in China.
