The hexavalent recombinant norovirus vaccine is a virus-like particle (VLP) vaccine candidate developed by Grand-Sevax Life Sciences for the prevention of norovirus-induced acute gastroenteritis. Noroviruses are highly contagious and genetically diverse, categorized into multiple genogroups and genotypes. This vaccine is engineered to express the major capsid protein (VP1) of six distinct norovirus genotypes, typically covering both Genogroup I (GI) and Genogroup II (GII) strains, which are responsible for the majority of human infections. By mimicking the structure of the native virus without containing infectious genetic material, the VLPs induce a robust neutralizing antibody response against the targeted strains. The vaccine aims to provide broad-spectrum protection against the most prevalent circulating strains of norovirus, addressing a significant unmet need in global public health.
