Hexue Tongbi Fang

Hexue Tongbi Fang (和血通痹方) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formula developed by the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is composed of five herbal ingredients: Aconiti radix cocta (制川乌), Cassia twig (桂枝), Manchurian wild ginger (细辛), Armand clematis stem (威灵仙), and Angelica dahurica (白芷), each at a dosage of 10g. The formula is prepared as an external powder decoction, used for fumigation and soaking of hands and feet. It has demonstrated preventive and therapeutic effects on oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neuropathy (OIPN) in a randomized controlled study and animal experiments. Network pharmacology studies suggest its multi-target effects involve the upregulation and modulation of the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway, including PI3K, Akt1, Akt2, and Bcl-2, contributing to its neuroprotective and analgesic properties.
