Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VaxThera's HFMD vaccine is an inactivated virus vaccine candidate currently in preclinical development for the prevention of hand-foot-and-mouth disease (HFMD). Developed in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin, the vaccine targets Enteroviruses, the primary causative agents of HFMD, which predominantly affects infants and young children. The vaccine utilizes an inactivated virus modality to safely elicit a protective immune response against the pathogens responsible for the disease. As of 2024, the program remains in the early stages of research and development within VaxThera's infectious disease pipeline.
