HG-CT-1 is an autologous chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy developed by Hemogenyx Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The therapy involves collecting a patient’s own T cells via apheresis and genetically modifying them to express a CAR that targets fms-like tyrosine kinase 3 (FLT3), a protein commonly overexpressed in AML cells. These engineered T cells are expanded in the laboratory and then infused back into the patient to recognize and destroy FLT3-positive leukemic cells. The mechanism of action is immunologic cytotoxicity mediated by targeted recognition and killing of malignant hematopoietic cells expressing FLT3. As of June 2025, HG-CT-1 is undergoing Phase I clinical trials in adults with relapsed or refractory AML; eligibility has recently been expanded to include pediatric patients[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8].
