Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HHCR is a herbal product combining Hederacoside C from ivy leaf dry extracts and berberine from Coptidis rhizome dry extracts. Hederacoside C, a triterpenoid saponin primarily from *Hedera helix*, is known for its expectorant, mucolytic, bronchodilator, and anti-inflammatory properties, which are mediated by reducing mucus viscosity and inhibiting inflammatory pathways such as NF-κB and MAPK/NF-κB. Berberine, an isoquinoline alkaloid derived from *Coptis chinensis*, contributes anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokines, suppressing MUC5AC gene expression, and modulating the IL-17 signaling pathway. HHCR has been investigated in clinical trials for its efficacy in treating chronic bronchitis and bronchiectasis, and is approved in the Republic of Korea for the relief of cough and sputum associated with acute respiratory infection and inflammation.
