Hib conjugate vaccine (Olymvax)

This Hib conjugate vaccine is a biological product developed by Chengdu Olymvax Biopharmaceuticals for the prevention of invasive diseases caused by *Haemophilus influenzae* type b (Hib) in infants and children. The vaccine consists of the Hib capsular polysaccharide (polyribosylribitol phosphate, PRP) covalently linked to a carrier protein, typically tetanus toxoid (TT), to enhance immunogenicity. This conjugation converts the T-cell independent polysaccharide antigen into a T-cell dependent antigen, which is crucial for inducing a robust immune response and immunological memory in young infants whose immune systems do not respond effectively to plain polysaccharide vaccines. The vaccine has undergone Phase III clinical evaluation in China, sponsored by the Jiangsu Province Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to assess its safety and immunogenicity in healthy infants and children.
