Overview

Hib-MenC-TT is a combination vaccine designed to protect against two serious bacterial infections in children: *Haemophilus influenzae* type b (Hib) and *Neisseria meningitidis* serogroup C (MenC). Both pathogens can cause life-threatening diseases such as meningitis and septicaemia, particularly in infants and young children. The vaccine contains purified polysaccharides from the outer capsules of both bacteria, each conjugated to tetanus toxoid protein (TT), which enhances the immune response by promoting T-cell dependent immunity. This conjugation improves immunogenicity in young children who do not respond well to plain polysaccharide vaccines. The primary indication for Hib-MenC-TT is as a booster dose after completion of the primary immunization series with other vaccines. It is administered intramuscularly, typically at 12-15 months of age, often alongside other routine childhood vaccines such as MMR. The most widely used brand name for this formulation is Menitorix[1][4][5][7].
