Overview

hICOSL-19 is a 19-residue peptide designed based on the human inducible co-stimulator ligand (ICOSL) structure. It functions as an antagonist of activated αVβ3 integrin through its arginine-glycine-aspartic acid (RGD)-motif. This peptide has demonstrated efficacy in mitigating proteinuria and reducing glomerular damage in mouse models of nephrotoxic serum (NTS)-glomerulonephritis and diabetic nephropathy. It is being investigated as a potential therapeutic option for glomerular diseases associated with αVβ3 activation, such as focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and diabetic nephropathy (DN).
