Overview

HIF-143 is a small molecule inhibitor of the mitochondrial cytochrome bc1 complex (Complex III) developed by Oscotec Inc. It targets the Qo site of the complex, inhibiting the reduction of cytochrome c and the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) induced by hypoxia or epidermal growth factor (EGF). This inhibition leads to the suppression of downstream oncogenic signaling pathways, including EGFR, ERK, and AKT. Preclinical research has shown that HIF-143 inhibits the growth of pancreatic cancer cells and tumors, particularly when combined with EGFR inhibitors like erlotinib or gefitinib, or the chemotherapy drug gemcitabine.
