Overview

HIF-1alpha shRNA (short hairpin RNA targeting hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha) is a gene-silencing therapeutic platform designed to downregulate the expression of HIF-1α. HIF-1α is a key transcription factor that mediates cellular responses to hypoxia and is frequently overexpressed in various cancers, promoting angiogenesis, metabolic reprogramming (such as altered choline phospholipid metabolism), and tumor cell survival. By delivering sequence-specific shRNA via viral vectors (such as lentiviruses) or non-viral nanocarriers (such as lipid nanoparticles or polymer complexes), this platform aims to suppress tumor growth, reverse aggressive metabolic phenotypes, and enhance sensitivity to other therapies. It is widely utilized in preclinical oncology research and is being explored for therapeutic translation.
