Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hifolate-DHA is a nutritional supplement combination of levomefolic acid (L-methylfolate) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), developed by Resilient Cosmeceuticals. It is primarily used during pregnancy to support fetal brain and visual development, prevent preterm birth, and mitigate the risk of perinatal depression. Levomefolic acid is the biologically active form of folate, which is essential for DNA synthesis and the regulation of homocysteine levels, bypassing the need for enzymatic conversion by methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR). DHA is a critical omega-3 fatty acid that serves as a structural component of the central nervous system and retina. The product is formulated as a soft gelatin capsule for oral administration and is approved for use in India.
