Overview

High calcium casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP) is a bioactive nanocomplex developed for the treatment of growth deficiency and bone mineralization disorders in children. Casein phosphopeptides (CPPs), derived from bovine milk protein, possess the unique ability to bind and stabilize calcium and phosphate ions in an amorphous, non-crystalline state (ACP). This stabilization prevents the formation of insoluble calcium phosphate precipitates in the gastrointestinal tract, thereby maintaining a high concentration of soluble calcium available for absorption in the small intestine. Developed by the Department of Child Health at Guangdong Maternal and Child Health Hospital, this specific high-calcium formulation is utilized as a systemic supplement to enhance calcium bioavailability, supporting longitudinal bone growth and increasing bone mineral density in pediatric patients with growth retardation.
