Overview

High-dose inactivated split-virion influenza vaccine is a vaccine candidate developed by Liaoning Cheng Da Biotechnology for the prevention of influenza. Unlike standard-dose vaccines which typically contain 15 µg of hemagglutinin (HA) per strain, high-dose formulations contain 60 µg per strain to elicit a more robust immune response, particularly in older adults (65+) who often experience reduced vaccine efficacy due to immunosenescence. The vaccine is produced by inactivating the influenza virus and then using detergents to 'split' the virus, reducing reactogenicity while maintaining immunogenicity. It is currently being evaluated in Phase I clinical trials in China (CTR20262531) to assess its safety and tolerability in healthy adults.
