Drug intelligence / Profile preview
high-PA red DAW refers to a high-proanthocyanidin red de-alcoholised wine, a natural product studied for its potential health-protective effects. It contains polyphenols, specifically proanthocyanidins, which are believed to contribute to its biological activities. An intervention study in post-menopausal women evaluated its effects on oxidative DNA damage, gene expression, and blood rheology. The study found that consumption of high-PA red DAW led to blood-fluidifying actions, characterized by a significant decrease in blood viscosity. However, it did not show protective activity against oxidative DNA damage or significantly modify gene expression profiles in peripheral lymphocytes. This product is considered a nutraceutical or dietary supplement due to its food-derived nature and investigated health benefits.
