Overview

High-purity human NK cells are a cell therapy product consisting of natural killer (NK) cells that have been isolated and purified from human sources such as peripheral blood or umbilical cord blood. These lymphocytes are a critical component of the innate immune system and possess cytotoxic activity against virus-infected and malignant (cancerous) cells. High-purity refers to the enrichment process that yields a population of NK cells with minimal contamination by other cell types, typically identified by surface markers such as CD56+ and CD3-. These purified NK cells can be expanded ex vivo for research or therapeutic purposes, including immunotherapy for cancer or infectious diseases. Their mechanism involves direct cytolysis of target cells via release of cytotoxic granules (perforin/granzymes), induction of apoptosis, secretion of cytokines like interferon-gamma to modulate immune responses, and recognition through activating/inhibitory receptors independent of MHC class I presentation[1][2][3][4].
