high THC cannabis

High THC cannabis is an investigational whole-plant botanical product being developed by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) for the treatment of chronic, treatment-resistant posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in military veterans. The product consists of smoked cannabis containing approximately 12% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and less than 0.05% cannabidiol (CBD). Sourced from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), it acts as an agonist at cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2) within the endocannabinoid system. This intervention was evaluated in the Phase 2 MJP1 trial, a randomized, triple-blind, placebo-controlled crossover study designed to assess the safety and efficacy of different cannabis potencies in reducing PTSD symptom severity as measured by the CAPS-5 scale.
