Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Highly purified staphylococcal bacteriophage preparation is a lytic bacteriophage therapy developed by the George Eliava Institute of Bacteriophage, Microbiology and Virology and manufactured by Eliava BioPreparations. It contains the well-characterized, strictly lytic Myoviridae bacteriophage Sb-1, which specifically targets and lyses *Staphylococcus aureus*, including methicillin-resistant *S. aureus* (MRSA) strains. The preparation is commercially available in Georgia for the treatment and prophylaxis of various staphylococcal infections, including skin, wound, and respiratory tract infections. It has also been utilized under compassionate use for the treatment of osteomyelitis and biofilm-associated infections.
