Overview
Hilecna Gel is a topical acne treatment containing 0.1% adapalene, developed and manufactured by Gujarat Pharma Lab. As a third-generation retinoid and a small molecule naphthoic acid derivative, adapalene selectively binds to nuclear retinoic acid receptors (RARs), specifically the RAR-β and RAR-γ subtypes. This binding modulates gene expression to normalize follicular epithelial differentiation, thereby reducing the formation of microcomedones and preventing the development of acne lesions. Additionally, Hilecna Gel exhibits anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting the oxidative metabolism of arachidonic acid and the chemotactic response of inflammatory cells. It is indicated for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris and is formulated as a gel for localized application.
