Overview

Hingwastak Churna is a classical Ayurvedic polyherbal formulation traditionally used for the management of gastrointestinal disorders. It is composed of eight primary ingredients: Ferula assa-foetida (Hing), Trachyspermum roxburghianum (Ajamoda), Cuminum cyminum (Jeera), Nigella sativa (Kala Jeera), Zingiber officinale (Ginger), Piper nigrum (Black Pepper), Piper longum (Long Pepper), and Rock Salt (Saindhava Lavana). The formulation acts as a carminative and digestive stimulant, primarily by balancing the Vata and Kapha doshas. It enhances the secretion of digestive enzymes and gastric juices, reduces intestinal gas formation, and improves appetite. It is commonly indicated for dyspepsia, flatulence, abdominal colic, and anorexia. In India, it is regulated under the AYUSH framework and is widely available as an over-the-counter traditional medicine.
