The product is rich in hirudin, a potent natural anticoagulant that functions as a direct thrombin inhibitor. By binding with high affinity to both the active site and exosite I of thrombin, it prevents the conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin, thereby inhibiting thrombus formation and improving microcirculation. It is approved in China for the treatment of conditions associated with blood stasis and circulatory obstruction, such as hyperlipidemia and cardiovascular diseases, within the framework of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).
