Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Hispidol B is a naturally occurring tirucallane triterpene (limonoid) isolated from various plant species, including *Turraea pubescens*, *Cedrela sinensis*, and *Phellodendron amurense*. In preclinical research, hispidol B has been identified via pharmacophore modeling and molecular docking as a potential activator of the abnormal Dauer Formation Protein 12 (DAF-12) receptor. This receptor plays a critical role in regulating the transition between developmental arrest (dauer stage) and reproductive growth in nematodes. By activating DAF-12, hispidol B is being investigated as a potential therapeutic candidate to deactivate the autoinfection life cycle stage of *Strongyloides stercoralis*, the causative agent of strongyloidiasis.
