Histaglobin is a biologic combination of human normal immunoglobulin (IgG) and histamine dihydrochloride, primarily developed by KM Biologics (formerly Kaketsuken) for the treatment of various allergic and respiratory conditions. Administered via subcutaneous injection, it works through a unique mechanism known as histaminopexy, where it stimulates the production of antibodies against the histamine-immunoglobulin complex. These antibodies neutralize free histamine released during allergic reactions, preventing it from binding to its receptors and triggering symptoms. Additionally, Histaglobin has been shown to modulate the Th1/Th2 immune balance toward a Th1-favoring profile, inhibit NF-kappaB activation, and reduce the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, TNF-α, and IL-6. It is indicated for the treatment of bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis, chronic urticaria, and atopic dermatitis.
