Overview

This is a combination of two small molecule drugs, histamine dihydrochloride and phenoxybenzamine. Histamine dihydrochloride acts as an agonist at histamine receptors, leading to vasodilation and increased vascular permeability. Phenoxybenzamine is a long-acting, non-selective alpha-adrenergic antagonist that irreversibly blocks alpha-1 and alpha-2 adrenergic receptors, resulting in vasodilation and decreased blood pressure. The combination has been used experimentally in diagnostic tests (such as the "histamine test" for gastric acid secretion) or for research purposes involving vascular reactivity or autonomic function testing. Phenoxybenzamine is primarily indicated for the management of hypertension and sweating associated with pheochromocytoma[2][3][4][5]. There are no widely approved therapeutic indications for this specific combination outside specialized diagnostic or research settings.
