Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Histidine + meloxicam is a combination therapeutic developed by Physician Therapeutics and marketed under the brand name TREPOXICAM-7.5. It consists of meloxicam, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that selectively inhibits the cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzyme, and L-histidine, an amino acid that serves as a precursor to histamine. The combination is designed to treat pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. The inclusion of L-histidine is intended to modulate neurotransmitter pathways involved in pain perception and stimulate the release of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), potentially enhancing the analgesic effects of meloxicam. This product has not received FDA approval for safety or efficacy.
