In the CAR-T approach, these VHH sequences serve as the extracellular antigen-binding domain, directing T-cells to recognize and eliminate HIV-infected cells, including those in the latent reservoir. The use of nanobodies allows for the targeting of cryptic or conserved epitopes that are often inaccessible to conventional antibodies.
