HIV CTL MEP vaccine is an investigational **synthetic multi-epitope peptide HIV-1 vaccine** designed by Wyeth Vaccines Research to induce HIV-specific cytotoxic CD8-positive T-cell and helper T-cell responses. It comprises four hybrid T-helper-cytotoxic T-lymphocyte peptides containing conserved HIV-1 epitopes derived from the Env and Gag proteins and was administered intramuscularly with the oil-in-water adjuvant RC529-SE, with or without recombinant GM-CSF as a coadjuvant. In a completed Phase 1 study in healthy adults, the vaccine was generally safe but produced only minimal and transient HIV-specific immune responses; GM-CSF did not materially improve the weak immunogenicity.
