A combination vaccine composed of four synthetic HIV cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) multi-epitope peptides (MEP), formulated with the RC529-SE adjuvant (a monophosphoryl lipid A analogue in oil-in-water emulsion) and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF). The HIV CTL MEP peptides target conserved T helper and CTL "hot spots" in the *gag* and *nef* regions of HIV, designed to elicit broad, HLA-restricted cellular immune responses in healthy, HIV-uninfected volunteers. RC529-SE acts as a Toll-like receptor 4 agonist, enhancing innate and adaptive immunity. GM-CSF is used as a co-adjuvant to further stimulate dendritic cell and myeloid cell activation, increasing vaccine immunogenicity. Developed in context of prime-boost HIV vaccine strategies, primarily for HIV infection prevention in phase 1 clinical trials[1][2][4][5].
