HIV gp120 Ii-Key peptide vaccine is an experimental peptide-based vaccine candidate being developed by Youfeng Biotechnology for the treatment or prevention of HIV/AIDS. The vaccine utilizes the proprietary Ii-Key technology, which involves a hybrid peptide consisting of an antigenic epitope from the HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein gp120 linked to a segment derived from the MHC class II-associated invariant chain (Ii protein, CD74). This Ii-Key segment facilitates the direct charging of the gp120 epitope into the MHC class II binding groove on the surface of antigen-presenting cells, bypassing the requirement for intracellular processing. This mechanism is intended to significantly enhance the potency of CD4+ T-helper cell activation, thereby orchestrating a more effective and durable immune response against the virus. The candidate is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
