Overview

The HIV intranasal vaccine is a preclinical vaccine candidate being developed by BlueWillow Biologics in collaboration with Medigen Vaccine Biologics for the prevention or treatment of HIV/AIDS. The vaccine utilizes BlueWillow's proprietary NanoVax (NE01) platform, which is a unique oil-in-water nanoemulsion adjuvant. This platform is specifically designed for intranasal administration to elicit both robust mucosal and systemic immune responses. By inducing mucosal immunity (including secretory IgA) at the site of viral entry, the vaccine aims to provide a first line of defense against HIV infection, while also generating systemic IgG and T-cell responses. The nanoemulsion adjuvant acts by enhancing the delivery of HIV antigens to dendritic cells and promoting a balanced Th1/Th2/Th17 immune response without the need for inflammatory toxins.
