Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HIV LFn-p24 is an investigational therapeutic and prophylactic vaccine candidate for HIV infection. It consists of a fusion protein combining the detoxified N-terminal domain of anthrax lethal factor (LFn) with the p24 protein from the HIV-1 gag gene. The vaccine leverages AVANT's Therapore technology, which uses bacterial toxin-derived proteins (with their toxic domains removed) to deliver target antigens into human cells and induce strong cell-mediated immune responses—specifically aiming to elicit robust and persistent CD8+ T cell responses against the HIV-1 gag p24 antigen. The vaccine is administered intramuscularly and has been evaluated in early-phase clinical trials for safety, immunogenicity, and its ability to stimulate immune responses in both healthy volunteers and people living with HIV[3][6][7][8].
