HIV-MAG + IL-12 plasmid DNA is a therapeutic DNA vaccine candidate designed to treat HIV-1 infection. Developed by Profectus Biosciences in collaboration with Ichor Medical Systems and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), the vaccine consists of the HIV-MAG DNA plasmid, which encodes multiple HIV-1 antigens including Gag, Pol, Env, Nef, Tat, and Vif. It is co-administered with an optional plasmid DNA adjuvant, GENEVAX IL-12-4532, which encodes the p35 and p40 subunits of human interleukin-12 (IL-12) to enhance cellular immune responses. The vaccine is delivered via intramuscular injection followed by electroporation using Ichor's TriGrid Delivery System, a technology that uses brief electrical pulses to facilitate the entry of the DNA into host cells, thereby improving the magnitude and quality of the resulting T-cell mediated immune response.
