The HIV-MAG DNA vaccine regimen is an experimental heterologous prime-boost HIV vaccine strategy. It consists of a multivalent DNA vaccine (HIV-MAG) encoding multiple HIV-1 antigens (Gag, Pol, Env, Nef, Tat, and Vif) co-administered with a plasmid DNA adjuvant (GENEVAX IL-12) encoding human interleukin-12. The DNA components are delivered intramuscularly via the TriGrid Delivery System, which utilizes electroporation to enhance cellular uptake and immunogenicity. This priming phase is followed by a viral vector boost using a recombinant vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) expressing the HIV-1 Gag protein (VSV-Gag). Developed through a collaboration between Profectus BioSciences, Ichor Medical Systems, and NIAID, the regimen aims to elicit robust and broad cellular and humoral immune responses against HIV-1.
