Overview

HIV SOSIP v8.2 763 is a recombinant protein subunit vaccine candidate designed for the prevention of HIV-1 infection. It consists of a stabilized, soluble HIV-1 envelope (Env) trimer derived from the 763 isolate, a Clade B strain identified in Spain. The vaccine utilizes the 'SOSIP' architecture, which incorporates a disulfide bond (SOS) and an isoleucine-to-proline mutation (IP) to maintain the trimer in its native-like, prefusion-closed conformation. The 'v8.2' iteration includes additional stabilizing mutations (such as E64K and A316W) to enhance the presentation of broadly neutralizing antibody (bNAb) epitopes while masking non-neutralizing epitopes on the trimer base. Developed by researchers at IDIBAPS and the Consorcio Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red (CIBER), this immunogen aims to elicit broadly neutralizing antibodies against diverse HIV-1 strains.
