Overview

HIV-v is a peptide-based therapeutic and preventive vaccine candidate developed by PepTcell Limited (also known as SEEK). The vaccine is designed to elicit a broad immune response, including both B-cell and T-cell activation, by targeting highly conserved regions of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) that remain stable across different viral strains and do not mutate frequently. By focusing on these conserved protein regions, HIV-v aims to provide a universal approach to HIV treatment and prevention. In clinical studies, specifically a Phase 1b trial involving HIV-positive volunteers not yet on antiretroviral therapy, the vaccine was evaluated for its safety, tolerability, and potential to reduce viral load while maintaining or slowing the decline of CD4+ T-cell counts.
