Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HK2 siRNA is a generic experimental research reagent consisting of a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the gene encoding hexokinase 2 (HK2). Hexokinase 2 is a key rate-limiting enzyme that catalyzes the first step of glycolysis, converting glucose to glucose-6-phosphate. It is highly upregulated in many cancer types and inflammatory conditions, driving the 'Warburg effect' (aerobic glycolysis). HK2 siRNA is widely used in preclinical research to knock down HK2 expression in cell and animal models, allowing researchers to investigate the therapeutic potential of targeting glycolysis in diseases such as glioblastoma, non-small-cell lung cancer, triple-negative breast cancer, clear cell renal cell carcinoma, rheumatoid arthritis, and infectious diseases.
