Drug intelligence / Profile preview
hKGF-2 (human keratinocyte growth factor-2), also known as fibroblast growth factor 10 (FGF-10) or repifermin, is a recombinant protein that acts as an agonist of fibroblast growth factor receptors, particularly FGFR2b (FGFR2-IIIb) and FGFR1b (FGFR1-IIIb). It is being developed as an ophthalmic solution (J002) by Wenzhou Medical University and China Resources Zizhu Pharmaceutical (a subsidiary of China Resources Double-Crane Pharmaceutical) for the treatment of dry eye disease (DED). hKGF-2 promotes the proliferation, migration, and differentiation of corneal and conjunctival epithelial cells, stimulates mucin and tear secretion, and accelerates ocular surface repair, thereby targeting the 'corneal epithelial damage-inflammation' cycle in dry eye disease.
