Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HKIIM-KU formula is an innovative Chinese herbal medicine formulation developed and used in Hong Kong for the treatment of gout. It has been observed to be effective in relieving and preventing gout and its related clinical manifestations, such as joint swelling, pain, and movement disorders. The mechanism of action is not fully elucidated but is believed to involve analgesic (pain-relieving), anti-inflammatory, and uric acid-lowering effects. The formulation is currently being evaluated in a double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled multicenter clinical trial led by the Chinese University of Hong Kong[3][4][9].
