HKP-siRNA-PMEPA1 is an experimental RNA interference (RNAi) therapeutic consisting of a small interfering RNA (siRNA) targeting the Prostate Transmembrane Protein, Androgen Induced 1 (PMEPA1) mRNA, encapsulated within a Histidine-Lysine Polymer (HKP) nanoparticle delivery system. Developed by Sirnaomics, this drug candidate utilizes the proprietary HKP platform to protect the siRNA from degradation and facilitate its entry into target cells. PMEPA1 is a key regulator of the Transforming Growth Factor-beta (TGF-β) signaling pathway and is implicated in mitochondrial dysfunction, mitophagy dysregulation, and pathological phenotype shifts in airway structural cells. By silencing PMEPA1 expression, the therapy aims to inhibit airway remodeling and chronic inflammation, particularly in the context of therapeutic-resistant asthma and other fibrotic conditions.
