HL-008 is a small molecule antioxidant and free radical scavenger being developed by Huili Pharmaceutical (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. It is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials in China for the treatment of schizophrenia, where it is administered as an injection. The drug exerts neuroprotective effects by alleviating oxidative stress and inflammation, reducing glial cell activation, and inhibiting apoptosis in brain tissue. Preclinical studies have also demonstrated its potential in treating ischemia-reperfusion injury, showing significant reductions in cerebral infarction volume and improvements in neurological scores.
