HL07 is a recombinant human-mouse chimeric monoclonal antibody developed by Hualan Genetic Engineering as a biosimilar candidate for cetuximab. It targets the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), a transmembrane glycoprotein that is overexpressed in various solid tumors, including colorectal cancer and head and neck cancers. By binding to the extracellular domain of EGFR, HL07 prevents the binding of endogenous ligands such as epidermal growth factor (EGF) and transforming growth factor-alpha (TGF-α), thereby inhibiting the activation of the receptor and its downstream signaling cascades (MAPK, PI3K/Akt, and JAK/STAT). This inhibition leads to reduced cell proliferation, induction of apoptosis, and decreased production of angiogenic factors. HL07 is primarily being developed for the treatment of KRAS wild-type metastatic colorectal cancer.
