HL17 is a recombinant human-mouse chimeric monoclonal antibody targeting the CD38 antigen, a 45 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein. Developed by Hualan Genetic Engineering, HL17 is specifically designed for the treatment of multiple myeloma, where CD38 is highly and consistently expressed on the surface of malignant plasma cells. The antibody functions by binding to CD38 and inducing cell death through multiple immune-mediated pathways, including antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC), complement-dependent cytotoxicity (CDC), and antibody-dependent cellular phagocytosis (ADCP). HL17 is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials to assess its safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy in patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma.
