**hLF-HSA** is a recombinant fusion protein comprising human lactoferrin fused to human serum albumin. It was developed as a longer-lived and more cell-internalizable form of lactoferrin with preclinical anticancer and regenerative-medicine potential. In lung cancer cell models, caveolae-mediated uptake of hLF-HSA increases expression and functional activity of sodium/hydrogen exchanger 7, disrupts trans-Golgi-network organelle pH homeostasis through proton leakage, and suppresses cancer-cell proliferation. hLF-HSA has also inhibited migration of lung adenocarcinoma cells, associated with reduced matrix metalloproteinase 1 expression.
