Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HLK-0006 (also known as IN-001) is an oral epinephrine prodrug formulation being developed by Shenzhen Pharmacin (HLK Pharmacin) in collaboration with Insignis Therapeutics for the emergency treatment of life-threatening allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis. The drug utilizes dipivefrin as its active ingredient, which is formulated as an orally dissolving tablet (ODT) using the proprietary SpraySol technology platform. Upon administration, dipivefrin is converted into epinephrine (adrenaline), a non-selective adrenergic receptor agonist that reverses the symptoms of anaphylaxis by inducing vasoconstriction, increasing heart rate, and promoting bronchodilation. HLK-0006 is intended to provide a needle-free, more convenient alternative to traditional injectable epinephrine auto-injectors. The drug has received Investigational New Drug (IND) clearance from the US FDA and is currently in Phase 1 clinical development.
