Overview

HLXTE-HAase02 is a proprietary recombinant human hyaluronidase developed by Shanghai Henlius Biotech. Expressed in Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells, this enzyme has a molecular weight of approximately 49 kDa and is designed to facilitate the subcutaneous delivery of other therapeutic agents. It functions by temporarily depolymerizing hyaluronan (hyaluronic acid), a major polysaccharide component of the extracellular matrix in subcutaneous tissue. By breaking down hyaluronan, HLXTE-HAase02 reduces the viscosity of the interstitial gel and increases tissue permeability, allowing for the administration of larger volumes of fluids and enhancing the absorption and dispersion of co-administered biologics. This technology is primarily intended for formulation development to transition intravenous therapies to subcutaneous administration, potentially improving patient convenience and reducing healthcare resource utilization.
