Overview
HM12470 is a novel long-acting insulin analogue developed by Hanmi Pharmaceutical. It is designed for once-weekly subcutaneous administration to provide steady basal insulin levels for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. The drug features a substantially prolonged pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profile compared to regular insulin and does not increase mitogenic potency. Preclinical studies indicate that it maintains metabolic potency after long-term stimulation and shows improved recovery of insulin signaling under chronic exposure conditions. Its mechanism of action includes stimulation of ornithine decarboxylase, phosphokinase, and protein tyrosine kinase pathways[1][2][7]. Clinical development has focused on type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus[1][3][10].
