Drug intelligence / Profile preview
hMAB IL-6 trans-signalling (C20) is a preclinical humanized IgG1 monoclonal antibody being developed by MAB Designs. It selectively blocks interleukin-6 (IL-6) trans-signaling (mediated by the soluble IL-6 receptor) without affecting IL-6 classical signaling. This selective mechanism of action distinguishes it from currently approved IL-6 antibodies, which block both pathways and are associated with broader immunosuppressive side effects. By targeting only the pro-inflammatory trans-signaling arm, the drug aims to expand the therapeutic utility of IL-6 inhibition into indications such as central nervous system (CNS) disorders, oncology, systemic diseases, and ophthalmology.
