**HMFG2-131I** is a radiolabeled monoclonal antibody therapy in which the mouse monoclonal antibody HMFG2 is conjugated to radioactive iodine-131. HMFG2 specifically targets the MUC1 glycoprotein, an antigen overexpressed on the surface of many epithelial cancers, including breast and ovarian cancer. By labeling HMFG2 with Iodine-131, the combination delivers cytotoxic beta radiation directly to MUC1-expressing tumor cells, thereby enabling both tumor imaging (immunoscintigraphy) and selective radiotherapeutic destruction. This approach is intended to improve the detection and treatment of local and metastatic disease with increased tumor specificity compared to conventional systemic radioisotope therapies. It is primarily developed for the preoperative detection and adjuvant treatment of breast cancer and has been investigated in clinical studies for these purposes[4].
