Drug intelligence / Profile preview
HMMC-1 is a **human monoclonal antibody** that specifically recognizes a fucosylated and extended core 1 O-glycan epitope (Fucα1-2Galβ1-4GlcNAcβ1-3Galβ1-3GalNAc-Ser/Thr), which is found on certain glycoproteins. In preclinical studies, HMMC-1 targets glycoproteins such as CD166 in human uterine endometrial cancer cells, where it inhibits cell proliferation by inducing cell cycle arrest in the G1 phase, associated with the upregulation of cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors p16 and p21. This mechanism results in a reduction of invasive growth of cancer cells bearing the HMMC-1 epitope, suggesting potential utility as a targeted therapy for certain cancers[1].
